If it fits, it sits.
Same spot. Same size. Different app.
Tabcat is a Mac app that adds a strip of tabs to the edge of your windows. Each tab is an app, or a separate Claude account in its own copy of Claude. Click one and its window takes the same spot and size as the one you left.
For macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon. How it works
Opening Antigravity…
Stop playing hide and seek with your windows
A busy Mac stacks windows on top of each other. Tabcat gives each app a tab and every window the same spot.
Command-Tab shows every app
It steps through everything that's open. The strip holds only the apps you added, so the one you want is one click away.
Windows drift and pile up
Each app remembers its own size and place. With Tabcat, the window you switch to takes the place of the one you left.
The wrong account replies
Two accounts in one app look alike. Tabcat gives each Claude account its own tab and its own sign-in.
One strip, any setup
Each tab is an app, so the strip holds whatever you switch between. Make each setup a Set and move between them with one shortcut.

Several editors
Keep VS Code, Cursor and Xcode in one spot. Each project is one click away, at the size you left it.

-
Agents side by side
Give the same task to Claude, Antigravity and Cursor, then click between them to compare what each one did.

Edit and watch
Cut in iMovie, grab another take in OBS, then play the export in QuickTime Player without moving a window.

Code and browser
Write in your editor and check the page in Safari or Chrome. The browser opens in the editor's spot, at the width you build for.
Tabs: Cursor · Safari · Google Chrome

A window per agent
Run Claude Code under several Claude accounts. Each runs in its own copy of Claude with its own sign-in and its own tab, so sessions never mix.
Tabs: Personal · Work · Client

Pictures side by side
Photos, Preview and Safari, each open on a different picture. In the app, a tab shows a letter, its app's icon, a symbol or an emoji.

Down the strip
Everything Tabcat does sits in one strip, top to bottom.
-
Sets
Group tabs into Sets, like your video tools or one client's apps and accounts. Switching to a Set shows only its tabs and hides the apps outside it.
Control Option 1 to Control Option 9 switch Sets in order. Control Option 0 shows all tabs.
-
One tab per app
Click a tab and its app's window moves into the spot the last one held, at the same size. A dashed tab's app isn't open yet. Click it to open it.
Hold Control Command and press Tab to step through tabs, most recent first. Let go to switch.

Any app with a window
Add a tab for any app with a window open, like your browser or editor. Keep it in the strip and the tab stays after the app quits.
Add a Claude account and Tabcat runs it in its own copy of Claude with its own sign-in, so personal, work and client chats never mix.

Mail from your agents Coming soon
With yowl installed, a mailbox will appear above the gear. You'll read, reply and start new messages without leaving the window. Without yowl, Tabcat shows no mail at all, and with it you'll be able to turn the mailbox off in Settings.
Mailbox 2 unread-
The draft is ready for you to read. I left two questions at the end.

Can I send the summary to the team?
-
Moved this week's notes into the new folder.
Replies go to the agent that wrote, through yowl.
A preview of the mailbox. It isn't in Tabcat yet. -

Fits the window it sits on
The strip takes the colour beside it, rounds its corners to match the window, and marks the active tab along the window's edge. In Settings you can pick a fixed colour, hide tab names or turn the edge off.

Questions before you join
- Does Tabcat move my windows?
- Only the one you switch to. It takes the spot and size of the window you left, and that one steps aside.
- Which apps work?
- Any app with a window. Keep its tab in the strip and the tab stays after the app quits.
- Can I use several Claude accounts?
- Yes. Each Claude account gets its own tab and runs in its own copy of Claude, with its own sign-in, so personal, work and client chats never mix.
- What are Sets?
- Groups of tabs, like your video tools or one client's apps and accounts. Switching to a Set shows only its tabs and hides the tabbed apps outside it. ⌃⌥1 to ⌃⌥9 switch Sets, and ⌃⌥0 shows all tabs.
- How is Tabcat different from Stage Manager or Mission Control?
- Mission Control spreads out every open window so you can pick one, and Stage Manager sorts windows into groups at the side of the screen. Tabcat holds only the apps you add, one tab each, on the edge of the window you're working in. The window you switch to takes the spot and size of the one you left.
- Does anything leave my Mac?
- No. Tabcat keeps everything on your Mac.
- Does Tabcat need an internet connection?
- No. Tabcat has no account, no analytics and no network connection of its own. Claude itself still needs one.
- Which Macs does it run on?
- Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later.
- Can the strip go on another edge?
- Yes. Put it on the left, right, top or bottom of the window.
- What will it cost?
- The price is set at launch. Everyone on the waitlist hears it first.
